"Oh, before I forget again," I mumble as I dig in my pocket. Scarlet and Tis eyes me suspiciously and I can't say as I blame them. It's not like our past history at these fanfares hasn't given them cause, but I do my best to hide my grin.

More than likely, I fail miserably.

Stepping up, I smile into Scarlet's face. She doesn't even see the red, white and blue ribbon as I slip it around her neck. But when the brass medallion thumps her chest, she tries to look down. Fastening quick, I kiss both of her cheeks in a grandiose fashion and step back to let her see.

"The One?"

"Yep, baby, just like the Highlander, there can be only one. And you're it. You'll just have to learn how to deal with greatness."
